PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 20-year-old man was arrested Tuesday and charged with criminal impersonation. Sherwood Police say he pretended to be a police officer on the night of March 22.
According to police, a Sherwood officer noticed a white Dodge Charger parked in the road, blocking a Honda Accord on SW Pacific Highway and SW Greenburg Road, just after midnight. A man was yelling at the female driver of the Honda.
The officer stopped and the man, Troy Bacon, said he was an off-duty officer working part-time for the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office. Bacon displayed a badge that said “Junior Probation Officer.”
Bacon said he pulled the woman over for speeding and reckless driving, but his Dodge Charger turned out to be a rental with no equipment or lights, according to police. Officers from Tigard were called to assist but they decided to release Bacon and continue their investigation.
The case was heard by a Washington County Grand Jury, and nearly a month later a warrant was issued for Bacon, who is a Portland State University football player from Boise, Idaho.. He was arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail.
