Couple injured in Vancouver home invasion

VANCOUVER, Wash (KOIN) – Police are looking or two people who broke into an Oakbrook residence and tied up one of the homeowners.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. on the 2400 block of Northeast 93^rd Avenue, according to emergency dispatchers.

The man and woman who live in the home told KOIN 6 News that the suspects were wearing masks that covered their faces. Both men had guns.

The victims asked not to be identified.

They said they were asleep when the home invasion happened. The suspects forced their way into the residence through a back door. Both reportedly demanded guns and marijuana, according to the homeowners. The man who lives at the house was assaulted and had his hands bound by zip-ties.

His wife told KOIN 6 News that he did not need to go to the hospital.

The couple said they have no idea why they were targeted. A neighbor speculated that the suspects may have accidentally gone to the wrong house.

The couple has now taken steps to ensure they are protected in the future, they said.

Earlier reports suggested police had detained someone in the area shortly after the assault, but it turns out that person was not involved with the crime, according to the victims.
