PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The “excellent description” provided by a teen who called 911 led Portland police to a quick arrest of a man for burglary.
Themba Hasaan Kelley was taken into custody in the early hours of Tuesday after the 16-year-old called 911 about a man inside her room in the 7800 block of SE Franklin Street.
Officers and K-9s arrived around 2:25 a.m. and found Kelley along with items recovered in the burglary, police said.

The 47-year-old faces a charge of 1st-degree burglary plus failing to register as a sex offender.
In a release, police said the teen’s “excellent description’ helped identify Kelley.
Ashley Sawyer kept her composure and her level-headed call to 911 led to Kelley’s arrest. She told KOIN 6 News she was only focused on calling police to stay safe.
Kelley has a long history of sex crimes against minors. In 2014, Kelley forcibly touched a teenager at a Baskin-Robbins, and was previously charged with luring a minor, 3rd-degree sex abuse, criminal trespassing and failing to report as a sex offender.
