PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A reward of up to $2500 has been announced to help solve the homicide investigation of Luccas Demetrius McNeill, who was shot to death late on August 7.

At 11:54 p.m., officers responded to the 2100 block of NE 81st Avenue after multiple reports of gunfire. Police found the 28-year-old down in the street next to a vehicle.

Witnesses described hearing a car speed away after hearing the gunfire.

“The Oregon State Medical Examiner determined that McNeill died of gunshot wounds,” Sgt. Pete Simpson said in a prepared statement.

McNeill was working as a security guard at the time of his death, helping to support his mother and sister.

At this time, it appears police do not have a motive for McNeill’s death.

They are actively searching for witnesses to come forward with information. Officials also encouraged neighbors in the area to check their home and business surveillance systems to see if they may have captured any relevant information.

Crime Stoppers of Oregon is offering cash rewards for information, reported to Crime Stoppers, that leads to an arrest in any unsolved felony crime and tipsters can remain anonymous.
