GRESHAM, Ore. (KOIN) – The man who police and prosecutors say was intentionally run over on a sidewalk after a disturbance outside a Gresham convenience store died on Saturday, police confirmed.
Larnell Bruce, 19, had been in critical condition after police say Russell Courtier and Colleen Hunt ran him down with Courtier’s 1991 Jeep late Wednesday in the 18800 block of East Burnside.
Police and bystanders said Bruce was doing everything possible to get away from his attackers, according to detectives.

Courtier has been identified as the driver. Hunt, according to court documents, encouraged Courtier to fight Bruce by yelling “get him baby, get him baby.”
The investigation is still on-going. Police have not said what may have started the original fight between Courtier and Bruce.
In his interview with police, Courtier admitted that he and Bruce got involved in an altercation and that Bruce pulled out a machete.
“…Courtier said he was angry (Bruce) produced a knife and thought about driving away from the scene, however (Courtier) made a conscious decision to drive his vehicle towards and chase the black male (Bruce),” records state.
Courtier and Hunt appeared in court on Friday. At the time, they had been charged with attempted murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and felony hit and run.
Police said they will work with the district attorney’s office to determine if Courtier and Hunt will be charged with murder.
