Jessica Smith had a change of plea hearing scheduled for charges of aggravated murder and attempt to commit murder, Clatsop County Prosecutor Josh Marquis said.
It is unclear what led Smith to change her plea.
Her toddler’s father will be in court when she is sentenced on August 25. Marquis is recommending a life sentence with the possibility of parole after 40 years.
In the video, Smith said she intended to “drown her [daughter] and her misery.” She said Isabella “just fell asleep peacefully, went into the water and was gone.”
