The inmate, 22-year-old Joshua Dow, escaped from the Washington County Community Corrections Center and made it to Cornelius before he was tracked down.

Deputy Michael Zaugg saw Dow at a bus stop in Cornelius but Dow ran. Zaugg’s canine partner, Chase, tracked the inmate down and he was taken back into custody. He is now being held at the Washington County jail without bail.

The WCCCC houses people sentenced for low-level crimes and allows them to leave during the day to look for jobs or attend substance abuse treatment programs, etc.
