PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Two men have been charged with the attempted murder of a man who was driving in Northeast Portland earlier this summer.
Approximately 15 minutes later, Gresham Police Department responded to the report of a single vehicle traffic crash on Northeast 162nd Avenue, just South of Halsey.
Police said both the driver, Antonio Mayshack and passenger, Lahenry Gibbs, attempted to walk away from the scene but were quickly located and detained. Both were transported by ambulance to a Portland hospital for serious injuries suffered in the crash.
Gibbs was recently released from the hospital and was booked into jail.
Both men have been charged with attempted murder, attempted first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and being felons in possession of a firearm. Mayshack is also charged with reckless driving and assault for the injuries he caused Gibbs during the crash, according to court documents.
Mayshack has already been arraigned on the grand jury indictment and has entered pleas of not guilty to the charges he faces. Gibbs will be arraigned on Monday.
The intended target of the shooting was not injured.
Records show, as of Aug. 22, there have been 96 acts of violence in 2016 that the PPB Gang Enforcement Team has investigated.
