GLADSTONE, Ore. (KOIN) – Firefighters are trying to determine if an arsonist is responsible for starting three separate fires late Sunday and into early Monday.
The fires were reported in the 100 block of East Clackamas Blvd. and the 300 block of West Arlington. The fire on East Clackamas was reported around 10:30 p.m. Sunday. The fire on West Arlington was reported around 1:30 a.m. Monday.
A nearby neighbor tells KOIN 6 that flames were shooting out of the house about 30 feet.
“It’s weird in this town. Because not much ever happens here. It’s quite. It’s a great place to live, I’ve never seen anything like this happen before,” Jeff, who asked his last name not be used, said.
All of the fires started on the outside, according to firefighters. At least two of the homes are vacant and are up for sale.
Officials say the fires are suspicious. “It was the way it was lit. I cant reveal any details on it but it just was out of the normal,” Lt. Kirk Stempel with Gladstone Fire tells KOIN 6.
The specific cause remains under investigation.
Oregon State Police have responded to help with the investigation.
