Teens face attempted murder in NE Sandy shooting

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two teens are behind bars and facing very serious charges after being arrested in connection with an early Wednesday shooting in Southeast Portland.

Around 3 a.m. on September 14, police said, 2 young women said they’d been shot at in the 2300 block of SE 143rd Avenue. Gang investigators were assigned to the case and identified one of the suspects.

McKeever Watkins Thompson, 19, was arrested Thursday at a home in the 8300 block of NE Sandy. Another 16-year-old was also arrested, and investigators said multiple guns were seized in a search at the residence.

Each faces charges of attempted murder, attempted aggravated murder and unlawful use of a weapon. Thompson is being held in the Multnomah County Jail, while the 16-year-old is in the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Home.
