SALEM, Ore. (AP) — A man convicted of rape and other charges has been sentenced to over 35 years in prison.
The Statesman Journal reports 32-year-old Cory Dennison was found guilty after a five-day trial and sentenced Friday.
Dennison was arrested in Salt Lake City.
Court records say his conviction on a witness tampering charge is related to conspiring with a cellmate in jail to provide a defense for charges related to the rape and sexual assault of two women.
Defense attorney Vada Salinas had argued for a sentence of 16 years.
Dennison will be required to register as a sex offender when he is released from prison.
