HILLSBORO, Ore. (KOIN) — A married couple from central Washington is reportedly responsible for Tuesday’s armed robbery turned police chase.

Michelle Luther, 28, was booked into jail hours after she drove a getaway van in a pursuit that ended near Bridgeport Village shopping center, according to police.

The Sunnyside resident is charged with attempted aggravated murder in connection with the pursuit, but KOIN 6 News learned she could face more charges.

Her husband, Josh Luther, is accused of robbing a Southwest Portland motel at gunpoint and firing at officers who chased the getaway van across several cities.

Eventually, the van came to a stop along SW Lower Boones Ferry Road. Michelle was quickly taken into custody and Josh took off on foot. An officer shot him and he was taken to a local hospital where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He reportedly remains under 24-hour watch.

Three children were inside the van during the police and shootout, but no one was hurt. The children were placed into protective custody following Michelle’s arrest.

The Tigard police officer who shot Josh has been identified as Andrew Pastore, who is a 14-year veteran of the department. He is on standard administrative leave.

Michelle is expected to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon.

Josh will likely be booked into jail upon his release from the hospital.
