Accused Oregon killer found in California

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Police have arrested the man suspected in the aggravated murder of Jason A. George, officials told KOIN 6 News.

George was found dead in the small Oregon town of O’Brien on Nov. 4, according to Oregon State Police. He was 25.

On Thursday, KOIN 6 News found out detectives learned Lieth S. Mohammad had been arrested in Burbank, California on an unrelated charge. He’s now being held in the Los Angeles County Jail.

The warrant charges Mohammad, from North Hollywood, California, with aggravated murder with a firearm, murder with a firearm, 1st-degree burglary, 1st-degree robbery, unlawful use of a weapon, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

According to police, George is originally from North Carolina. He had been living in the Cave Junction area for the last couple of years.

Details of the homicide have not been released.

O’Brien is located nearly 6 hours south of Portland. It’s just south of Cave Junction and north of the California border.
