PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — An armed carjacker stole a Subaru Legacy from a driver at the Stadium Fred Meyer on West Burnside shortly after the report of an attempted carjacking nearby.
Around 7:45 p.m., Portland police were called to a residence in the 1400 block of NW 28th Avenue. They learned a victim was carjacked at the Fred Meyer about 30 to 60 minutes before they were called. The stolen Subaru has an Oregon plate 478-HKF.
Around 6:45 p.m., the attempted carjacking was reported in the driveway of the Taco Bell at 2079 West Burnside. The woman told police an armed man tried to take her car while she sat in the driveway of the restaurant, but ran away. She was not hurt.
Police said the carjacker is an Asian or Hispanic man in his 30s, about 5-feet-6, with a medium build. He is clean shaven and was wearing dark, bulky clothing. He also carried a backpack or a bag and had a handgun.
