2 dead in Salem shooting, suspect arrested

SALEM, Ore. (KOIN) – A 35-year-old man was arrested for shooting and killing two men late Sunday night.

Salem Police say Marcelino Osorio-Jiminez got into a fight with 26-year-old Hector Martinez-Arroyo and 50-year-old Carlos Zepeda-Ponce and shot them in the parking lot of Heritage Square business center in the 1600 block of Lancaster Drive NE.

Emergency dispatchers first received calls about the shooting at 10:56 p.m. A witness followed Osorio-Jiminez as he fled and officers arrested him a short distance away from the scene.

Both victims died at the scene.

Officers have not said if the suspect and victims were known to each other.
