PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 29-year-old woman who arrived at the Mount Hood Medical Center in Gresham on Sunday with multiple traumatic injuries died Tuesday morning. Her boyfriend had been arrested on Monday.
Shay Martinez of Portland was transported from Mt. Hood Medical Center to Legacy Emanuel Hospital due to the extent of her injuries, Gresham police said.
The East County Major Crimes Team was called to investigate what led to her injuries. They learned she was in a relationship with 30-year-old Jose Funes of Gresham.
Police arrested Funes Monday for 1st-degree domestic violence assault.
Funes is being held at the Multnomah County Detention Center on a $250,000 bail.
It’s currently unclear if additional charges will be filed against Funes after Martinez’s death.
