4 people detained after pursuit in Clackamas

CLACKAMAS, Ore. (KOIN) – The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office has detained 4 people after a pursuit early Tuesday along Interstate 205.

The sheriff’s office said a patrol deputy spotted a white pickup near I-205 and Wilsonville and ran the license plate. The report that came back indicated the vehicle was associated with a criminal investigation out of Marion County.

The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to pull over. Deputies and Oregon State Police chased the vehicle along I-205 and through the surface streets in unincorporated Clackamas County. During the pursuit, deputies used a pair of spike strips to flatten some of the vehicle’s tires. A “PIT maneuver” was used to spin the vehicle out.

The pickup crashed into a street sign near the intersection of Stafford Road and Borland Road, across the street from Wanker’s Country Store.

No one was hurt.

All 4 people inside the vehicle were detained for questioning.

The sheriff’s office said no weapons were found inside the vehicle and everyone surrendered peacefully once the vehicle came to a stop.

The sheriff’s office could not provide details about the criminal investigation occurring out of Marion County.

KOIN 6 News reached out to the Salem Police Department because the vehicle is registered to an address in Salem, but has not yet heard back.
