BEAVERTON, Ore. (KOIN) — The security alarm went off at 5:45 a.m. on Tuesday, alerting Jeff Rouse that someone had entered his man cave. He thought it might be a family member.
“I didn’t think anything of it,” Rouse said, “until the sequences didn’t seem right. And I went to investigate and found that, no, no one was up in the house and it was something that happened somewhere else. That’s the point I logged onto my app and found that it was happening down below.”

By the time Rouse realized something was wrong — about 15 minutes later — the thieves had already left. Rouse said his man cave was the only unlocked door in the house.
“You don’t’ expect to feel like you are not safe in your own house,” Rouse said.
Rouse’s place wasn’t the only home in the Cooper Mountain Area burglarized this week. Three homes in the Cul De Sac on 168th Street were hit. Washington County deputies said the thieves made off Christmas presents and a purse containing credit cards and cash. Deputies said there was evidence that the light bulbs outside 2 of the 3 homes were unscrewed.
Sue Duhrkoop’s house was one of those. They took out the security lights and then attempted to get through the home’s sliding glass door, but they failed.
“I feel violated,” Duhrkoop said, “I really do.”
Rouse said he already purchased cameras to add to his security system. And even though some items were stolen, he’s just glad his daughter is safe and that the burglary didn’t result in something worse.
“That’s really what this all about,” Rouse said. “I mean that’s really the thing that shook me the most is her safety.”
