WILSONVILLE, Ore. (KOIN) — A man who fled from a traffic stop and barricaded himself inside a Wilsonville home surrendered after a brief standoff with Clackamas County Sheriff’s SWAT unit on Monday.

An officer initially attempted to stop 41-year-old Mukunda Moriary Moss for a speeding violation around 1:15 p.m., Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said. The suspect was reportedly driving 46 mph in a 25 mph residential zone.

Moss continued driving at a slow speed while the officer followed him. He made several turns before stopping in front of a home on SW San Remo Avenue.

Two female passengers, an adult and a juvenile, were reportedly in the car. Moss yelled at the girl to get inside the house while the adult left the scene, deputies said.

Moss reportedly refused to comply with the officer’s demands and barricaded himself inside the home.

More units arrived and surrounded the house. Moss was reportedly seen holding a handgun from a second story window.

Officers secured the location and evacuated nearby residences. The girl, who was later identified as Moss’ daughter, got out of the house safely, deputies said.

The SWAT team arrived and negotiators were called inside the home.

Moss surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody at 3:45 p.m.

He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

The 41-year-old will be charged with felony attempt to elude and a misdemeanor.
