GRESHAM, Ore. (KOIN 6) — Prosecutors say a man used a bamboo cane and a BB gun to steal another man’s skateboard.
Gresham Police had originally charged Nathaniel R. Held with charges of first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and criminal mischief. On Thursday, he appeared in court and was arraigned on a single count of first-degree robbery.
According to a probable cause statement filed, the victim told police on Wednesday that he was walking down the street near 1st and Kane in Gresham when a man, later identified as Held, approached him with a bamboo cane. The two men know each other and had an ongoing dispute.
Held reportedly swung the cane at the victim and then used a BB gun to shoot the man several times, according to court documents. While the two men struggled over a skateboard, Held was able to grab it and hit the victim with it.
Held eventually confessed to Gresham police, according to court documents.
He is due in court in February.
