WOODLAND, Wash. (KOIN) — A man with previous arrests for public indecency is sitting in the Cowlitz County Jail after allegedly following a woman for about 5 miles while touching himself.

The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, told KOIN 6 News she was on her way to work when she noticed a man following her and touching himself.

“He was kind of pacing me for 5 to 6 miles,” she said. “I’d speed up, he’d speed up. I’d slow down, he’d slow down” as they drove along I-5 near Woodland.

Police said Shane Boyd followed the woman in his truck and circled back when she tried to lose him at a freeway exit. She went to a nearby store and 15 minutes later, she said, he was back.

“I just so happened to turn around and look in the parking lot and the truck was pulling in the parking lot,” she said. “So I put my hood up and ran into the store. I’m screaming for anyone.”

The woman called police, who arrested Boyd on a public indecency charge.

Boyd, 34, was also arrested on the same charge in 2012, 2013 and 2015.

“I didn’t know why he came back, what he wanted to do to me or why he was frantically looking for me,” she said. “These things are not just on the news. They are real. You don’t realize the fear until it happens.”
