PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Clackamas County is denying any wrongdoing in the criminal investigation of a former Portland soccer coach whose sex abuse trial was dismissed.

The Oregonian reports the county responded to Joseph Leonetti’s $7.5 million lawsuit, saying no laws were violated during the 2013 investigation. The county maintains Leonetti and his family aren’t entitled to any compensation.

Leonetti’s suit, which was moved to U.S. District Court last month, alleges false arrest, malicious prosecution and denial of his constitutional rights.

He was accused in 2013 of groping a 13-year-old friend of his daughter’s during sleepovers at his family’s home.

The case went to trial in March 2015, but was dismissed after rumors that the girl fabricated the story of her abuse. Court documents don’t specify what led to the dismissal.
