2 shot, 1 killed on Umatilla Indian Reservation

UMATILLA, Ore. (KOIN) — A 27-year-old man died after being shot on the Confederated Tribes of Umatilla Indian Reservation Saturday morning, the FBI said.

The man, who was not a member of the tribe, died at a local hospital.

Another man who was shot is hospitalized in serious condition, the FBI said.

Victor Contreras, 23, from California was detained and arrested on probable cause related to the shooting. He will travel to Portland Monday for his initial court appearance.

Contreras is also a non-tribal member, the FBI said.
