SALEM, Ore. (AP) — A man accused of fatally shooting another man outside a Salem strip club last summer is claiming self-defense.

Christopher Lauderdale’s lawyer has filed a memo saying that his client suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, and it triggered a belief that an argument outside the club was a “kill or be killed” situation.

The Statesman Journal reports that Lauderdale has been charged with murder and other crimes in the shooting of 31-year-old Roderick Adams Jr. of Salem. His next court date is March 30.

The memo states that Lauderdale and Adams had been vying for the affections of the same stripper.
