Tualatin HS teacher indicted on sex crimes

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) – A grand jury has filed a four count indictment against Jonathan Robert Maggiano.

Court records show that Maggiano is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday afternoon for his arraignment.

According to the Multnomah County DA’s Office, the grand jury indicted Maggiano with one count each of second-degree sexual abuse, luring a minor, sexual misconduct and contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor.

According to court documents, Maggiano started an online conversation with the 17-year-old girl through the gaming portal “Steam.”

Six people testified before the grand jury, including Portland Police Sex Crimes Detective Nathan Sheppard.

The indictment shows that the sexual conduct occurred on July 18, 2015.

At his first court appearance, a not guilty plea was entered on Maggiano’s behalf.

He has been released from jail, pending trial.

He is on paid leave from Tualatin High School.
