SWAT called out near Vancouver elementary school

VANCOUVER, Wash. (KOIN 6) – Several people were taken into custody for questioning after a SWAT team made entry into a home near George C. Marshall Elementary School.

The SWAT team was assisting the Vancouver Police Department’s Neighborhood Response Team execute a search warrant at a residence in the 6300 block of Louisiana Drive, according to a police spokesperson.

Vancouver Police Lt. Kathy McNicholas said the investigation started a couple of weeks ago and centered on drug dealing and gun trafficking. Several people were detained, but no criminal charges have been announced.

There were no injuries, McNicholas said. Officers were executing the warrant as of 6:30 a.m.

Neighbors were told to stay indoors but have since been allowed to come and go. There was never any danger to the public, police said.
