PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Three young men from Portland are behind bars for their alleged connection to a shooting along I-84 in Hood River County on Tuesday.

Austin Gregory Steed, Chance Corey Pinkard and Deshone Jaheel Brooks face attempted murder, 1st-degree assault and 1st-degree robbery charges.

Investigators with the Oregon State Police said they drove to Herman Creek Road, about 4 miles east of Cascade Locks and met with 2 other young men from Portland, Charles Kane Jr. and Cody Dale Rau. Kane and Rau drove separately.

Kane, 23, was shot in the arm at Herman Creek. He and the 21-year-old Rau left in their own cars and stopped along I-84 at the Wyeth interchange. Rau then drove Kane to Gresham and talked with police, as Kane was taken to a Portland hospital for treatment.

The 3 suspects were spotted in the area of the shooting by OSP and taken into custody.

Steed, 20, Pinkard, 19 and Brooks, 21, are being held in jail in The Dalles.

The investigation is ongoing. No motive was provided by investigators.
