MYRTLE CREEK, Ore. (KOIN 6) – A 28-year-old man, who is also a registered sex offender, is facing charges of first-degree online sexual corruption of a child and luring a minor after police said he was caught in an undercover enforcement targeting people preying on young girls, according to court records.
According to court records, the mission was being run by the Myrtle Creek Police Department. The officer conducting the investigation set up a Facebook using a female’s name. On September 23, the officer running the account noticed that Christovol Lugo had sent a friend request. The officer accepted.
Lugo started to initiate a conversation with the person who he thought was a female. He reportedly said that he was “stoned,” according to court records. Lugo said that he goes to Eugene to take “Molly,” a street name Ecstasy.
When the conversation turned to having sex, the officer – still posing undercover – told Lugo that “she” was 15 years old. Lugo reportedly replied, “Oh. Well, that is young, but I’m not gonna treat u like a kid,” according to court documents.
The next day, on September 24, police did an undercover phone call and spoke with Lugo who told them that he was watching a child’s middle school football practice. According to court documents, Lugo, a registered sex offender, isn’t allowed to go where children gather.
When police – still posing as the 15 year old girl – asked if Lugo was still bringing a condom to the meet up location, he reportedly said, “Oh, yea, gotta be smart,” court documents state.
Police eventually took Lugo into custody in Roseburg after they said Lugo was seen walking his bike in the area where he had agreed to meet the person he thought was going to be a 15 year old girl, according to court records.
Lugo was arraigned on Monday with only one count of first-degree online sexual corruption of a child.
