PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Crime in Portland, Gresham, Salem and Vancouver rose statistically in 2014, according to numbers provided by the FBI.
The annual “Crime in the United States” report collated data from 18,000 agencies throughout the country about violent crimes and property crimes. Another 20 categories are checked, including just about everything except traffic offenses.
Locally, the report revealed:
— Portland saw rises in each statistical category except robberies and aggravated assaults. Those stayed unchanged
— Gresham was up in aggravated assaults, larceny-thefts and vehicle thefts, but down in murder and rape.
— Salem was down in every category except aggravated assaults and larceny-theft
— Vancouver saw a rise in murder, homicide, rape and robbery, but a decrease in aggravated assaults, larceny-thefts, vehicle thefts and burglaries.
