St. Vincent nursing assistant charged with rape

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two elderly women who were recently patients at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center made complaints that lead to the arrest of a Certified Nursing Assistant who worked there.

After an investigation, 34-year-old Adeladilew Mekonen was arrested. He has been charged with one count of rape and one count of unlawful penetration and is being held at the Washington County jail on $250,000 bail.

Mekonen was a CNA at the hospital from May 2016 until his arrest on September 14. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office believes there may been other victims and ask anyone with information to contact Detective Robert Rookhuyzen at 503.846.2673.
