PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — On Saturday, before the sun came up, a man and a woman visited the Avalon Loft Apartments in the Pearl District. They approach the door, use a key fob and open the door, just like any normal person that lives at the complex.
There’s one problem: these 2 hooded visitors weren’t just there to visit.
Instead, these visitors were on a mission. They go through the complex before they find their destination. The man goes into the mail room, tearing through box after box, while the woman keeps watch. Eventually the two escape, goods in hand.

“We are finding some thieves that are very brazen,” said Danny Shleifer, the homeowners association chair at the Avalon Lofts.
“I wish they’d get their act together and understand that it’s a crime.”
Shleifer said the building has a 169 homeowners inside. Which means, during the holiday season, packages — and a lot of them — get delivered every day. Up to 100 packages can arrive on any given day.
He said it’s the 2nd time in 3 months burglars have visited the apartment complex. He’s asking people to keep an eye out.
“We ask them ‘do you know someone here? Are you living here?’ and a lot of people don’t like that but that’s a good way of being vigilante,” Shleifer said.
And as for the thieves, Shleifer has a message for them, too.
“It’s wrong, get a job, figure out a way to better yourself,” he said.
