KELSO, Wash. (KOIN) -– Two sheriff’s deputies and a police officer were involved in the fatal shooting of a chainsaw-wielding suspect about 20 miles east of Kelso, authorities said.
The incident happened late Saturday night on the 8900 block of Rose Valley Road, Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office said.
A man, whose name has not been released, reportedly threatened law enforcement with a chainsaw before they opened fire. The suspect was killed in the incident.
Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office released the name of the officers and deputy involved in the incident as Deputy Brent Harris, Deputy Alexis Tonissen and Kelso Police Officer Darrel Stair.
Details regarding exactly when the shooting occurred or what led up to it have not yet been released.
The sheriff’s deputies and police officer were not injured.
All of the officers are on administrative leave, as is standard protocol when an officer-involved shooting occurs.
