Man faces 19 charges over SE Portland fire

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -– A 28-year-old man faces 19 charges after being linked to a suspicious fire at a Southeast Portland apartment that burned 2 people.

Joshua Aaron Bigsby was arrested on Sunday morning in the 12600 block of SE Division, 1 day after the fire, officials confirmed.

According to investigators, police and firefighters responded to the 15800 block of SE Division on Saturday at 4:26 a.m. after getting reports of an apartment fire. When crews arrived, there was heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure.

Investigators have not said how they were able to link Bigsby to the alleged crime. He was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on 6 counts of first-degree arson, 6 counts of reckless endangering and 6 counts of first-degree criminal mischief. He is also charged with one count of 2nd-degree assault.

One of the people was seriously burned, while the second person suffered burns to a forearm, firefighters said. That person refused medical treatment.

Officials said investigators are still speaking with additional witnesses.
